Busy, Busy, Busy

So December has been a busy month for us. It came and went so fast. It is crazy to think that in a few days it will be 2008. Chill has been out of school since December 14. It's been nice having him around. He has spent much of his time working on the bathroom and fixing up the laundry room. I am happy to say that it is coming right along. There is hope! He finished painting last week and him and his dad started laying the tile. It's amazing to think that after almost a year we will finally have another bathroom. I'm just wondering what his next project will be.

Christmas Fun

Chill and I had a great Christmas. We spent half of our time with my family and half of our time with his family. It was a busy few days but we had a lot of fun. It all started Sunday night with the Wilcox family annual progressive dinner. That is always a lot of fun and something we look forward to. We went to three different house for three different courses- appetizers, salads, dinner/dessert. We had yummy food and played the white elephant gift game. On Sunday we went over to Chill's grandparents in Taylorsville for a yummy turkey and ham dinner and presents. After that was over we headed back to Bountiful to my parents house where we got to open our pjs and do our traditional Christmas Eve. We spent the night at my parents and got up and opened presents with them Christmas morning. After breakfast, we got ready and headed down to Lehi to do Christmas with Chill's family. We opened presents and played "The Game." It is something we have done for the past three years now. Claudia (Chill's mom) always goes above and beyond to make the game fun. We win lots of good prizes and have a blast. I would say that we got spoiled by both families this year that is for sure. We are lucky to have such wonderful families!

Poor Gingerbread House

We decided that for young womens one week we would make a gingerbread house and then deliver it to someone in the ward. Sadie and I went over to Molly's and got to work. We worked long and hard on the house while trying to decide who we should take it to. The finished product was beautiful and we were very proud. While the frosting was drying we were helping Sadie with some homework. This is where our sad story begins. Molly noticed the roof of the house falling off so she proped it up and we got back to the homework. A few minutes later we heard a thud. We looked over and part of our gingerbread house fell off, hit the floor and broke. Oh it was a sad moment. There was not reviving it at this point. We all picked up the pieces and threw it in the garbage. We obviously couldn't deliver it in that condition. Despite the tragic ending to our gingerbread house making, we had a great night!

Our Beautiful Tree

We have had a tree for a few weeks now and I haven't even decorated it. Chill did put lights on the tree and put the star on top, but that is about it. I couldn't decide what colors I wanted to do on the tree so I have been procrastinating. I look at ornaments every time I'm at the store, but I just can't make a decision. I finally found a gold and red tree skirt the other day so I think I'll go with those colors. I was telling my sister that by the time I have all the ornaments I'll be ready for next years tree. We have to give credit to Chill's parents and his brother Brett for the tree. They went and cut it down for us. Chill had to work the day they went. They did a great job and we love our tree!

We're Number One!

Chill and I both got off work early and we went to the U of U vs. Utah State basketball game with Steve and Cherise. We had a great time although I was beat because it didn't start until 8:00 p.m. That is when I start getting ready for bed. Chill wore his Utah State t-shirt and then his red sweatshirt over that so that he could decide who to cheer for when he got to the game. The U played really well and won so he wore the red sweatshirt the entire time. I'm not sure Steve would have sat by him if he were cheering for Utah State. It was nice to get out and have some fun on a week night. That is very rare!

And How Did He Do That?

Chill and I were on our way to a doctors appointment. It was about 1:45 in the afternoon and we had just gotten off the freeway at 5400 South. As we were sitting at the red light I looked over and saw a few cars and a cop stopped in the middle of the intersection. At first I thought it might be a little fender bender, but then I realized that the cop had a slim jim and was trying to open the door. Somehow the guy in the SUV had locked his keys in his car in the middle of the intersection. Chill and I were both wondering how the heck he managed that one. Kind of random?

After the doctors appointment, we decided to run to TJ Maxx to look at tree skirts for our Christmas tree. We didn't find a tree skirt, but we did run over and check out some of the baby clothes while we are there. I started searching to racks and I hear Chill say, "Let's jump right to the good stuff" I look over and he is holding this big fluffy suit for the baby. He said if he had his choice that is what he would buy. I think he loved the fact that it was a bear. I was laughing so hard. I might consider it if our little guy was going to be born in the winter, but I just don't think it is going to work in the spring. After TJ Maxx we went to Borders to look at baby name books. We still can't find a name we both just love. Hey we have few more months.

Birthday Fun

It was Nat's birthday and we were able to spend some time with my family. We went to Johnny Carino's for dinner and then went back to my parents house to open presents and have cupcakes and ice cream. We had a great time and Chill and our niece Lexi were pure entertainment for all of us. They played with the ribbon and wrapping paper for quite some time. It's easy to see who was winning that battle.

Take Advantage of It

So Chill and I have been able to spend some time together which has been really nice. Now when I say time, I mean a few hours here a few hours there, but I'll take any time I can get. After he got off work one day we thought we'd run over to RC Willey and check out a few things. It had been snowing so I of course wanted him to find the closest spot possible. He parks on the front row and out of the corner of my eye I see a sign that says "Reserved Parking for Expectant Mothers." So Chill backs the car up and moves into that spot. The best part about it was, it was only about 3 parking spaces from where we had originally parked. Chill looked at me and said, "Hey we gotta take advantage of it while we can.

It's A Boy!

So we went to the doctor yesterday and found out we are having a baby boy. Pretty exciting! I've always wanted lots of boys so we are off to a good start. Our little guy is extremely active and is apparently happy to be alive. Buying blue is going to be a whole new experience for me.

$Have you ever held a $600 purse? I have$

So last night I went to a party over at Sarah Ames house. I had a great time hanging out with girls. I even bought myself a Salt City Candle, Vanilla Spice. As we were getting close to leaving, Mackenzie went to get her purse and Sarah asked her if it was new. To make a long story short, yes the purse is new and it is adorable. We after much questioning, Mackenzie finally told us how much the purse cost, $603! I was dying. I have a hard time spending $30 for a purse. I just HAD to touch the purse and hold it. I was worried I would do something to it. I was giving it a lot of TLC. Man I felt high class holding that purse. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to hold your purse Mackenzie!!!

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

So last year we went and cut down our own Christmas Tree the day after Thanksgiving with Chill's family. It was so much fun and we decided we needed to do it again this year. In order to cut the tree down you have to have a permit. We needed three permits (Chill's parents and brother were out of town) so we made my brother Brent come with us. They only allow one permit per person. Very strict!!! We left the house at 5:30 a.m. and drove to Soldier Hollow in Midway. We got there at about 6:20 a.m. and had to wait in line for over an hour and a half. They open the doors and start selling the permits at 8:00 a.m. You had to get there early though to get a good place in line. It was a little chilly and I was exhausted, but it wasn't that bad. We finally made it through the line and were out of there by about 8:30. I know we'll be happy when we have a "Special" Christmas Tree again this year.

Our first Christmas Tree, isn't it cute?

It really wasn't this cold, but I went prepared for anything. I was acutally burning up under all my layers!!

If my husband won't support me...the GOVERNMENT will!!!

Okay so the good news of the day is that we got accepted for medicaid. We had to jump through a lot of hoops to get approved, but we finally did. You have to pretty much give your blood in order to get approved. Okay not really, but because I have two jobs it complicated things a little. I was stressed because we started getting our Dr. bills from our first appointments and I was not sure how we were going to pay them. We want to thank everyone that "made" us apply. I was afraid that I was just making WAY too much money. Apparenty not! Life is good and now we can get that big screen t.v. we've always wanted.

I'm Getting Bigger!!!

Okay so I have been loving life that I can still wear most of my clothes. I thought by now I would have just popped. I thought I was hiding it pretty well until I went to work and one of the secretaries said, "you're totally showing" I ran and looked in the mirror and I just look fat. I know I am totally in that awkward phase where people wonder if I am fat or pregnant. Oh well. Anyway after work I made Mindi take a picture of me so I could get a better view. I think the picture makes me look bigger than I am, but I'm still starting to show....barely! Ha Ha

Back to the Books

So we have been trying to enjoys our weekends as best we can during Chill's Psychiatry rotation. He's had every weekend off which has been really nice. He starts his next rotation on November 5th at Huntsman. He is going to be doing his Oncology rotation which he is really excited about. He'll be back on a crazy schedule again which is hard to get used to, but we survive. Because his rotation is almost over, he has been hitting the books again for his test that he has to take at the end of the week. We were able to go out with some friends Friday night to Rodizio Grill and then we headed up to Park City to watch Warren Miller's Playground. I had never seen a Warren Miller film before and I thought it was awesome. We had a great time and it was fun to be with our friends. On Saturday we relaxed most of the day and then I cleaned the house while he studied. He was very content sitting on the couch, studying while eating Dill Pickle Spitz. What more could a boy ask for. We didn't have plans Saturday night so we decided we'd spend it at Barnes and Noble. Chill really wanted to find a book he could read on Sunday afternoons. I spend most of my time looking at parenting books and what not and he spent his time looking for "the book" to read. Chill ended up with Surprised by Joy: The Shape of My Early Life by C.S. Lewis. That should keep him busy for maybe a day or two. I bought a book called The Preschooler's Busy Book: 365 Creative Games and Activities to Keep Your 3-6 Year Old Busy! It was on clearence so I thought I'd buy it. I won't be able to use it now, but it should come in handy down the road a few years. (Nat I got you a copy too) We had a great time and it was nice spending time together while we can.

I hate blogging!

So I have been experiencing a few technical difficulties with this stupid blogging stuff. I have been trying to change my template and every time I do, it erases something like my Family and Friends list, or just whatever it wants. I am not computer savy so I have no idea what is going on. I am not sure I am going to even try and be creative with my blog anymore and make it all cute because I get too frustrated and pretty soon I will not have a computer because I may throw it out the window. I may feel differently tomorrow about blogging but for now, I hate it!!!

P.S. Molly I will take this "tag" thing seriously when my blog and I are getting along better!

Only a few more weeks!

I just had to write and say that I love my two sisters Nat and Mindi and my favorite little niece Lexi. Nat, Jared, and Lexi live in Arizona and they are coming home the second week of November for the Holidays and boy am I excited. It's been a few months since I have seen them and I really miss them. I can't wait for all the girls to be back together again. I tried to work it out to go to Arizona to visit them but my crazy work schedule just wouldn't allow it. Man it is hard being the breadwinner! Thank heavens they will be home soon. I love you guys!

THEY LOST!?

So my friend Molly Young invited me to the Jazz game last night. At first I told her no because I was already in my pajamas, but after I got off the phone Chill told me I should go and that it would be fun. I sent Molly a text to see if the offer was still there and sure enough it was. I threw on some jeans and a sweat shirt, jumped in the car and drove over to the Gateway. Molly let me park in their gated parking lot. Man she is living the life of luxary! Molly and I ran over to the Energy Solutions Arena and got to our seats on the 11th row just in time for half time. The game was great...or at least the parts we saw. We were kind of busy eating starbursts, J. Brooks Jewelers chocolates, and people watching. Every now and again we'd watch the game and clap and cheer. It was a lot of fun. Molly was trying hard to throw Deron Williams a chocolate because he is a frequent customer at J. Brooks. We left a few minutes before the game was over because Molly was meeting her husband for dinner. We figured the Jazz were going to lose anyway so we weren't missing much. It really was a fun night. I also saw my old roommate Haley that I haven't seen or talked to in over a year. Good Times!!

There's Hope!

This is the reason why I didn't want to start a blog. I knew I would be terrible at keeping my blog updated. After a sweet reminder from a few friends, I've decided it's time for an update. Now I know this picture does not look like much to any of you, but to me it shows progress. Chill has started working on our bathroom again. It was put on hold for many months due to Chill's crazy school schedule. He now has a little extra time and so he's back to work. We are hoping to have things done by Christmas. A little at a time :)

Life for Chill and I is going really well. He is doing his Psychiatry rotation right now and is really enjoying it. I think he likes the hours the best. He doesn't have to go in until around 9 a.m. and he gets off at 4 p.m. We actually get to hang out in the evenings. (When I'm not working) I am finally getting over the morning sickness. I actually went to the gym yesterday and today and it felt great. Chill is going hunting this weekend with his family and I am going to stay home and spend some time with my family and watch conference.

Let the fun begin!

So we went to Sunday dinner at Chill's grandparents house. The minute we walked in the door, Chill's mom said she had a present for me. I open it up and it is a baby blanket and some cute little pajamas. Chill's dad walks in and said "oh boy she's already started." It was fun though and it did get me more excited. I guess that is what grandparents are for, to spoil the grandbabies!!! (Don't look at my crazy hair. I look like I have some funky baby bangs going on. I better work on that.)

You Might Be a Redneck If....

So Chill and I went to the State Fair 3 times this year. It was great let me tell you. I think I just go to people watch. There are some weirdos out there!!! Brent was down here at the fair selling Nascar gear. Chill and I had to go open the booth one day. You wouldn't even believe the mullets we saw. Scary!!! Brent doesn't really fit the part. He needs to grow his hair out a little more, get a few tatoos, have a beer in his hand, pull out a few teeth, and talk like a redneck. Then he'd have it down. We did have a great time and it was fun watching all the people go crazy over the different Nascar drivers. I had no idea people loved it so much. Chill and I were not real helpful either. People would ask us questions and I would tell them to come back in a few hours. For those of you that didn't go to the fair, you really missed out!

Is that really a baby?

This is the first "real" news for our blog. Yes it's true, we are going to have a baby. We went to the doctor last week and found out I am 10 1/2 weeks along. Crazy!!! Although very overwhelming, we are really excited. (I think Chill is a little more excited than I am). We've known for quite some time that I was pregnant but I didn't really want to admit it. I wouldn't let Chill tell anyone until we went to the doctor. I wanted to be sure there was really a baby in there and that everything was okay. I am starting to come to terms with the fact that I am pregnant and am going to get HUGE! All in all it hasn't been too bad yet, but I could do without the morning sickness. Throwing up is NOT fun at all. My offical due date is April 6th. We have a lot of work to do around the house before we have a baby. Hopefully with Chill's next rotation he'll have a little time to start some of the projects. I'm just glad we only have one more week of his surgery rotation. It has been a little rough!

Fine....I'll do it!!!

Okay so you know for many years I have been able to resist peer pressure, but I guess I am finally going to give in. I didn't think I was the blogging type, but look at me now. My life has not been very exciting lately with Chill doing rotations and me working. It is kind of the same old same every day. Maybe this will be good for me. It will give me something to do. Plus my sister Nat finally started blogging too so I decided to give in. She's my big (I mean older) sister. She knows what is best for all of us! So here you go, welcome to our blog!
