Happy Birthday Nat

Monday was Nat’s birthday. She was up in Idaho Falls visiting Jared’s parents. The plan was to celebrate her birthday on the weekend when she is back in Bountiful, but birthdays are a big deal in our family so we decided we MUST celebrate with her on her birthday. My dad and I both wanted to make the trip to Idaho so I quickly packed Carson up and went to my parents house. Mindi, my mom and I ran around town getting birthday gifts, cards and a cake. By 3:00 p.m. we were off to Idaho Falls. We made it there in 2 ½ hours and it was time for the big surprise. We were planning on having Jared’s mom tell Nat she had a package at the door, but when we got there, Nat was downstairs feeding little Beans (aka Logan). We decided to just go in the house and wait for her to come up. It was so fun to be with her and spend time with everyone. We went out for Mexican food and then went back to the Heaton’s for cake, ice cream and presents. We made it back home just after 1:00 a.m. It was a quick trip but well worth the time.

8 Months Old

Yes our little dude is now 8 months old. I honestly can't believe it. He is so much fun though so I just love each month as it goes by. He really is such a good baby. I remember worrying so much when he was little that life would never feel normal with a baby. Well it does. It's weird to think how life was before we had Carson. He sure makes life much more fun for Chill and I. Carson is weighing about 18 lbs. (Only 2 lbs. more than his cousin Logan who is 4 months younger!) He loves to smile and absolutely loves to be the center of attention. When you talk to him he holds his pointer finger up as if to say he knows he is #1. He can crawl backward, but not forward (it just isn't making sense yet). He cut his first top tooth and is about to cut another one. I swear he'll have a mouth full of teeth when he is 1. He is sleeping through the night about 10 1/2 to 12 hours a night which is SO nice. He loves both sets of grandparents so much and gets overly excited when they come around. He learned to feed himself little things and loves to feed other people as well. He loves to stand up on the bench in church and wave at all the people behind him. He loves to play the keyboard. I swear he says "ma ma" when he talks to me...ha ha! I know there are many more things about our little man, but that is good for now.

Happy Birthday Claudia

It was my mother-in-law's birthday on November 25th. I know this post is so very late but I wanted her to know how much we love and appreciate her. A few weeks ago I was able to go out to lunch with all the girls and of course Carson and Grandpa Claude to celebrate Claudia's birthday. We went to the Cheesecake Factory which was super yummy. Happy (late) Birthday Claudia. We Love You! Thanks for EVERYTHING you do for us.

Thanksgiving in St. George

We were able to spend Thanksgiving with all of Chill’s family in St. George at his grandparent’s home. We had so much fun. We went down there on Wednesday afternoon. The trip down wasn’t too bad. Carson did great in the car. Chill’s Uncle Brian and Aunt Wendy were there as well along with two of their children, Coleman and Lexi. Lexi was so sweet and played with Carson a lot. The Thanksgiving dinner was so yummy. Thanksgiving is definitely one of my favorites! The boys were able to golf a few times and the girls were able to do some much needed shopping. Grandma Gen was so sweet and babysat Carson for a few hours while Claudia, Mandy, and I went out shopping. The weather was beautiful. I was a little worried about the trip and ruining Carson’s sleeping pattern. He’d been sleeping through the night for over a month and I didn’t want to have to start over when we got home. The first few nights were a little rough because we were sharing a bed with Carson. By the third night Chill and I decided to sleep out in the front room on the floor and let Carson have the bedroom and the bed all to himself. Well that plan worked great. He slept through the night for two nights and Chill and I got our sleep so all was well. Thanks Blaine and Gen for letting us take over your house for a few days. We had so much fun!!!

Way Behind!

I know I haven't blogged for ever. I apologize for that. I haven't neccessarily been too busy, I just haven't wanted to blog. You know how it is...it happens sometimes. I am going to attempt to get caught up with all the fun things we have done lately. I'm doing it mainly for my sake, but also for those that enjoy reading our blog.

Thanksgiving With Friends

Once again we had the big Friends Thanksgiving! It was a lot of fun. I think Carson really enjoyed it because he actually had some friends to hang out with. We had a great time and we really missed those that weren't able to make it this year.

Med School Christmas Party

Yeah I know it's WAY too early to be having a Christmas party but don't worry, the Med School doesn't think so. The party was fun though for the most part. We didn't stay long but Chill was able to see and talk to a few people. Mostly it was talk about where everyone was was applying for residency and all that fun stuff. The funniest part is that it was a Christmas Party at a Mexican place and they served turkey, potatoes and gravy, veggies, and rolls. Go figure. All in all it was great and Carson already got to sit on Santa's lap. He wasn't too interested in Santa, only in the candy cane he got!.

Life is Sweet

Oh I have wonderful news! I am now eating chocolate again. For those of you that didn't know, I cut chocolate completely out of my diet when Carson was about 5 weeks old. The doctor told me that could be contributing to his fussiness. So, because I wanted him to be a happy baby I made a HUGE sacrifice and just quit cold turkey. It was so hard. Seriously I didn't think I could live without it, but I did. I survived. I have recently been adding chocolate back into my diet slowly. It hasn't seemed to effect Carson. I could just cry I am so happy. I feel like life is so good now that I can eat chocolate. I was not going to even try it until after the holidays were over so that I could avoid all the chocolate sweets that make me fat, but I just couldn't do it. I plan to take it easy, but we'll see what happens.

So Cute

The other night Chill, Carson and I were just playing in Carson's room. I had him in his crib playing with all his stuffed animals...well all three of them that is. There were a couple of binkis in the crib too. Carson put on in his mouth and then he grabbed the other one and tried to give it to his bear. I thought maybe it was just a fluke but when Chill ran downstairs to grab the camera, he did it again. Of course when we got the camera out he was way more interested in the camera, but he finally did it again. It was so cute. I guess he thought the bear needed a binki too. Carson also figured out on Friday that he has a tongue. When I pulled him out of bed that morning, he was sticking it out with this funny look on his face like...what the heck is this. He now sticks it out all the time and thinks it is funny when someone else sticks their tongue out at him. What a fun little guy!

Just One of Those Days!

Do you ever just have those days where you feel totally Fat? Yeah well I've have a few of those lately. I shouldn't be complaining because it's my own dang fault. I haven't really exercised since Carson was born. That is 7 MONTHS. That is awful! I was totally a faithful gym goer when I was pregnant, but my pass expired a few months ago. So I guess I have a few options. 1. I could sit and complain about it some more and eat more food, or 2. I could get a new gym pass. Good things Christmas is coming! That sounds like a perfect gift!

I just LOVE this Kid.

I am constanly laughing and smiling at the funny things Carson does everyday. I love to just watch him as he is learning to be independent. One of the funniest things is to watch him with his stuffed animals. The Bunny and The Dog are by far his favorites. He throws those things all around in bed and a few times when I go up to get him in the morning, they are all piled on top of him. I need to get more pictures. Well yesterday I put Carson down for a nap. When I went to check on him, the dog was on top of his face and he was dead asleep. I need to video tap him and the dog sometimes. It's so cute. Oh yes and Carson has slept through the night 2 nights in a row. We are making progress!!! I got to a point where I had to do something because he was waking up 4 to 5 times a night. NOT COOL! With a few tips from my friend Cindy and a little reading, I think we may have done it.

We finally went out and bought Carson a high chair. We have been using his little BeBe Pod to feed him, but he hangs off the side and I swear he is going to fall right on his head. I needed something that could confine him a little better. I think I was way more excited than he was for the high chair, but he definitely likes it.

I forgot to post last week, but Carson is 7 months old. He is growing like crazy and just keeps getting cuter and cuter everyday. I just love to kiss his little cheeks. He is such a sweet boy and loves to give hugs and wet kisses (and he tries to bite my cheek at the same time). He started waving last week and it is the cutest thing ever. His favorite person to wave at is himself in the mirror. He just learned to drink out of a straw. He is becoming a pretty good eater-finally. He still isn't crawling, but he wants to so bad. I'm sure he'll get the hang of it one of these days (or months). He can be a complete goofball at times, but most of all he is just an all around happy boy.

Carson is playing with Chill's name tag. It is one of his favorite things to do.

Confession

Screaming Baby
+
Christmas Music

=

Sleeping Baby

Yes I am admitting that yesterday I listened to Christmas music while I was driving in the car. I get so dang excited for Christmas music and I can't help but listen to it. It just gets in in the Christmas mood. Kozy 106.5 plays all Christmas all the time. I am usually a closet listener from the day after Halloween until the day after Thanksgiving, but I've decided to confess to all of you. It seems that after Thanksgiving it is socially acceptable to listen to Christmas music but not a minute before. I haven't even told Chill yet because I know what he'll say. Now please don't judge me because I know that there are a lot of you out there that have already listened to it too. I'm sure some of you are headed right now to turn on your radio just to get in the Christmas spirit! Now as for the equation above: Carson has had a cold for the past little while and has not been the happiest camper at times. Well yesterday was one of those days. We were in the car and he was just screaming away while I was up front driving, singing to my Christmas music and having a good old time. I decided I turn up the volume a little in the back. The moment I did that, SILENCE...and then he was fast asleep. I could have cried because just the thought that Carson might just love Christmas music as much as I do is just wonderful!!! Chill isn't a big fan, but he is so nice and puts up with it the entire season...well after Thanksgiving that is. So to all of you out there that love Christmas music and are already listening to it...just know you have my support!!!

First Hair Cut

Carson had his first hair cut. I noticed his hair was growing over his ears on the sides a little so I decided he needed a little trim. Mindi was so good with him. Chill held him on his lap and Mindi cut away. He was all over the place- like always. He didn't particularly like Mindi holding his head like that, but she got the job done. Now he is just as handsome as ever. Min also cut Chill's hair and trimmed up his beard which I really appreciated!

The Marathon Day!

We were able to spend the day on Saturday in Logan for our friend Kyle's wedding. My friend Andrea was nice enough to watch Carson for a few hours so that we could go to the wedding ceremony at the Logan Temple. After the ceremony and pictures, we headed over to get lunch at one of my favorite spots, Firehouse Pizza! Yum Yum. We had a great time and Carson was having a great time playing with Steve and slapping his bald head. After lunch we all took it easy for about an hour at Andrea's house and then we all piled back in the car again and it was off to Ogden for the reception at Union Station. Carson had pretty much had it by that time. He was not a happy camper because he didn't get to nap very much during the day. At some point he got his second wind and was a happy boy. He also has a new best friend, Morgan. She was so sweet and took care and entertained him most of the night. At one point she had him on the floor and she blew bubbles for him for like an hour. He loved it and it was a good break for me. Although the day was long, we had so much fun spending the day with all our friends.

Happy Halloween!

You know there are has been so many years when Halloween is such a let down for me. I always plan and hope that the day will be super fun and for the most part, it never is...well not this year. We had such a fun Halloween. Carson and I spent most of the day with my mom. I had to work for a few hours and run around to get a few last minute things. Chill and I decided to dress up. I dressed up like a witch and Chill was going to be a Scarecrow. Our costumes were thrown together last minute and they didn't turn out like we had planned, but it was all good. Carson was a cute fat little pumpkin. Our fun didn't really start until 5:30 in the evening. We headed over to the church for the Trunk or Treat! Our ward was in charge of Dounuts on a String. It was a hit. The kids absolutely loved it. We spent just over an hour at the church and then we got together with some friends from the ward to have dinner at Chilis. Carson did his part by making a big mess at dinner. He started by grabbing Chill's coke which went all over the table, then he grabbed my ranch dressing and it fell on the floor and was everywhere. You know I never wanted to be one of those families that leave a big mess, but I hate to say it...we were!!! All it all things went well and we had so much fun. Carson wore his costume most of the night and seemed to really like it! He was the cutest pumpkin ever.
