Happy Halloween!

You know there are has been so many years when Halloween is such a let down for me. I always plan and hope that the day will be super fun and for the most part, it never is...well not this year. We had such a fun Halloween. Carson and I spent most of the day with my mom. I had to work for a few hours and run around to get a few last minute things. Chill and I decided to dress up. I dressed up like a witch and Chill was going to be a Scarecrow. Our costumes were thrown together last minute and they didn't turn out like we had planned, but it was all good. Carson was a cute fat little pumpkin. Our fun didn't really start until 5:30 in the evening. We headed over to the church for the Trunk or Treat! Our ward was in charge of Dounuts on a String. It was a hit. The kids absolutely loved it. We spent just over an hour at the church and then we got together with some friends from the ward to have dinner at Chilis. Carson did his part by making a big mess at dinner. He started by grabbing Chill's coke which went all over the table, then he grabbed my ranch dressing and it fell on the floor and was everywhere. You know I never wanted to be one of those families that leave a big mess, but I hate to say it...we were!!! All it all things went well and we had so much fun. Carson wore his costume most of the night and seemed to really like it! He was the cutest pumpkin ever.

Happy Birthday Doug!

We were able to get together with Chill's family to celebrate his dad's birthday. It was fun having the whole family together and Carson LOVES the attention he gets from everyone. We ate dinner at Carvers. The food was so yummy! I was glad we were able to celebrate with the whole family. Happy Birthday Doug!

Corn Maze

I love this time of year! For the young men/young woman activity this week we went to the corn maze which is so fun. With Chill being the young mens president and me being the young womens president, we decided we better go!!! We do all our activities on a stake level so there was a great turn out. We took Carson with us and he had a great time. We wanted to go through the haunted side, but I wasn't sure how Carson would do with that so we just went through the regular maze. (Well the truth is I get a little scared and that was an easy way out!) We just strapped him on Chill and off we went. It was past Carson's bedtime and at the end of the maze he crashed!!! He is such a good sport!

Eeny, Meeny, Miney, Moe

I think I am about ready to use the phrase "Eeny, Meeny, Miney, Moe" in our house. Chill is in the process of applying for residency. He tells me that he should have applied 2 months ago, but he just can't decide what kind of doctor he wants to be when he grows up. Many of you know that his plan has been to be an Oncologist. Well in order to get there he would have to do 3 years of Internal Medicine residency and he isn't real excited about that. About a month an a half ago he changed his mind and decided he would go into Pathology. The lifestyle and money are great and the residency isn't bad. I jumped on board and said I'd support him in that and I thought that was the plan...well it was the plan up until last the middle of last week. He started second guessing himself and wondering if he could really do that for a career. I tell you the only topic of discussion in our home for the past week has been about different careers. I don't mind talking about it with Chill but I can't keep up. He changes him mind every hour. I am not joking either. Now I am not sitting here complaining, it has acutally been quite funny. I do feel SO bad for Chill though because he is under so much stress. Well on Friday night Chill decided that he wanted to go into surgery. He loved his surgery rotation and has thought about that many times. He worried about it though because it is a career that could really take you away from your family. I once again said if it makes him happy I'd survive and support him. Well once again that was the plan until Sunday morning. Then he thought maybe he should go into Family Practice. By the end of the day he had once again decided to do Oncology. I after all that we are back to where we started. I told Chill that if he changed his mind again Carson and I were going on vacation and were not coming back until he sent in his application. I also told him that if he thought about changing I was going to put all the options in a hat and he could just draw his career!!! I was happy though by Sunday night because he seemed set on Oncology...until Monday morning. He thought maybe Emergency Medicine is what he should do. He also tossed around the idea of Ophthamology every few days or so. Last night Chill told me that he is just going to apply for Internal Medicine. I can't say for sure that is what will happen, but I am sticking with that plan (for today) or else, Carson and I are going on vacation. I'll keep you all posted!!

We were able to take another trip to Arizona for our nephews blessing this past weekend. Chill was finally able to come with us. We had such a great time. Chill was going to fly out Friday night and hang out with my sister and her family, and then Carson and I were going to fly Saturday morning with the rest of my family. (we booked our tickets at different times) Anyway when Chill was getting ready to board the plane they offered a $400 flight voucher to anyone that would wait and go on the next flight. Of course Chill jumped at that chance and so he was going to hang around at the airport until the next flight which he thought was about 3 hours from that time...well it turns out the flight was actually the next morning. I must admit I was a little mad because I knew my neice was really looking forward to hanging out with Uncle Chillin before everyone else showed up. It took me awhile but I finally got over it. The airline also put Chill up in a hotel for a night and gave him some meal vouchers. I tell you...he always lucks out!!! We all eventually made it to Arizona Saturday morning. Carson was an ANGEL on the way there. He had a great time and even fell asleep sitting on my lap (that NEVER happens) The way back was another story. He was already tired (and still teething) so he was not happy. He had a screaming episode just like the last time we flew home from Arizona. I of course get all uptight and stressed, but he eventually gave up and fell asleep! All the people around us were super nice about it which always helps. There was one guy that let me know that he had to put his ear plugs in because Carson was so loud. I just had to laugh!

Our trip was great. On Saturday night our friend Nick came out to my sisters house to visit us. We had planned to drive to Tempe to see him and his place, but Carson was already in bed so he was nice enought to come see us. It was so fun to see him and chat with him for a bit. I of course went to bed early, but Chill was able to stay up and talk to him. Our cute little nephew Logan was blessed on Sunday which was awesome and I was so glad were could be there. Chill had to go home Sunday night which was sad, but the rest of us stayed until Tuesday. We were able to go to Fashion Plaza in Scottsdale which was AMAZING. I would love it if I could shop there all the time. It is seriously so beautiful! We also went to the Cheesecake Factory which is one of my favorites. We just had a great time being together!
5:30 a.m and Carson is up and ready to go!

The Big Hunt

Yes I married a Hunter! This weekend was the big hunt so off we went to Wyoming to meet up with Chill's family. You know there isn't a lot in Wyoming, but apparently it is a great place to hunt. I will say that it was beautiful because all the leaves are changing and it totally felt like fall! We had such a good time. It was so much fun and definitely too short!!! We stayed in the cutest little cabin that is surrounded by trees and right by a pond. The boys went out hunting each morning and evening and Carson and I stayed in the cabin and hung out with Chill's mom. We spent much of the time relaxing and listening to General Conference which was great. Chill's mom made yummy food the entire time we were there. We definitely didn't go hungry. Carson absolutely loved being outside and seeing all that there is to see. He even caught his first fish... with grandpa's help that is. It was a little chilly and it even snowed a little. I'm not sure that I am ready for winter although it was really fun sitting inside by the warm fire. I really would have loved to spend a few more days, but we all had to get home to jobs, school, etc. Thanks Doug and Claudia for such a fun, fun weekend!!!

The Breast is Best!

Okay so I totally forgot to post about this. About a week and a half ago I got an e-mail from Chill with "Extra Money" in the subject line. Chill is always talking about how I should find something to do that could make a little money. I try and explain to him that I am not crafty and creative like all those other stay at home moms that make and sell stuff. It's just not who I am. I have no creativeness in me and really don't have a sense of style. Well I opened the e-mail and here is what I found...

PETA Urges Ben & Jerry's To Use Human Milk
Group Says Move Would Help Humans, Cows

POSTED: 1:48 pm EDT September 23, 2008
UPDATED: 9:53 am EDT September 24, 2008

WATERBURY, Vt. -- People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals sent a letter to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, cofounders of Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc., urging them to replace cow's milk they use in their ice cream products with human breast milk, according to a statement recently released by a PETA spokeswoman.

"PETA's request comes in the wake of news reports that a Swiss restaurant owner will begin purchasing breast milk from nursing mothers and substituting breast milk for 75 percent of the cow's milk in the food he serves," the statement says.

PETA Urges Ben & Jerry's To Use Human Milk

PETA officials say a move to human breast milk would lessen the suffering of dairy cows and their babies on factory farms and benefit human health.

"The fact that human adults consume huge quantities of dairy products made from milk that was meant for a baby cow just doesn't make sense," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "Everyone knows that 'the breast is best,' so Ben & Jerry's could do consumers and cows a big favor by making the switch to breast milk."

"We applaud PETA's novel approach to bringing attention to an issue, but we believe a mother's milk is best used for her child," said a spokesperson for Ben and Jerry's.

I'm sure many of you have seen and read this and I think it is so funny. We were talking to our friends about it and we just can't imagine bodily fluids in ice cream. So although I appreciate Chill's offer to make extra money I think I'll have to turn it down. Produce I can do that. Eat the milk in ice cream...NO THANKS!! Ha ha. The best part of all this is the letter PETA sent to Ben and Jerry's...

Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, Cofounders

Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc.

Dear Mr. Cohen and Mr. Greenfield,

On behalf of PETA and our more than 2 million members and supporters, I'd like to bring your attention to an innovative new idea from Switzerland that would bring a unique twist to Ben and Jerry's.

Storchen restaurant is set to unveil a menu that includes soups, stews, and sauces made with at least 75 percent breast milk procured from human donors who are paid in exchange for their milk. If Ben and Jerry's replaced the cow's milk in its ice cream with breast milk, your customers-and cows-would reap the benefits.

Using cow's milk for your ice cream is a hazard to your customer's health. Dairy products have been linked to juvenile diabetes, allergies, constipation, obesity, and prostate and ovarian cancer. The late Dr. Benjamin Spock, America's leading authority on child care, spoke out against feeding cow's milk to children, saying it may play a role in anemia, allergies, and juvenile diabetes and in the long term, will set kids up for obesity and heart disease-America's number one cause of death.

Animals will also benefit from the switch to breast milk. Like all mammals, cows only produce milk during and after pregnancy, so to be able to constantly milk them, cows are forcefully impregnated every nine months. After several years of living in filthy conditions and being forced to produce 10 times more milk than they would naturally, their exhausted bodies are turned into hamburgers or ground up for soup.

And of course, the veal industry could not survive without the dairy industry. Because male calves can't produce milk, dairy farmers take them from their mothers immediately after birth and sell them to veal farms, where they endure 14 to17 weeks of torment chained inside a crate so small that they can't even turn around.

The breast is best! Won't you give cows and their babies a break and our health a boost by switching from cow's milk to breast milk in Ben and Jerry's ice cream? Thank you for your consideration.

Tracy Reiman

Executive Vice President

6 Months Old

I can't belive our little man is 6 months old. He'll be a year old before we know it. We just got back from the doctor and he is super healthy. The doc said we can take him off the reflux medication hes been on since he was 2 months so we're happy about that. He got more shots today which is always a treat. Carson was screaming before he even got the shots so it didn't seem as bad today to watch. Usually it breaks my heart to watch him get shots. I just hate seeing him in pain. Carson seems really big to me, but he's pretty average. He is just super tall and skinny. Here's the latest stats:

Weight: 16 lbs 7 oz (30th percentile)
Height: 27 1/4 inch (79th percentile)

Not only did he get shots, but he is teething again. He has been a little miserable at times for the past week and a half. He screams when we put him down for a nap or for bed. (not always but a lot of the time) I just feel so bad for him. He won't take his binky because it hurts him to suck. I just keep telling myself that we'll make it through this and it isn't goint to last forever. Other than that Carson is a super happy little dude. He wakes up really happy in the morning and his favorite thing to do is hang out with Chill on our bed. He loves to go out and about so we go to the park, the grocery store, or the mall and that keeps him really happy. He's a trooper! The best news is that the car is no longer an issue. It makes going places so easy!!!

Here are some cute pictures of him at 6 months:

One Happy Boy!

He loves to take a bath in this ducky!

Carson and his cute friend Ellie (they are 3 weeks apart)

He loves to bounce and bounce and bounce

He loves to bite his toes and pull off his socks

He just learned to drink out of his sippy cup

He's ready to crawl, but doesn't quite know how to move!
